About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Critical Mission Solutions (CMS) business in Reading. This role will involve working on the AWE Non-Nuclear Engineering Partner (NNEP) framework, which provides £1bn worth of engineering support to site-wide facility redevelopment and upgrades.

The CMS business offers an exciting mix of engineering, consultancy, and project management support opportunities for delivery of challenging decommissioning, remediation, and new build related EPC projects for major clients in the UK and overseas.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical direction, coordinate, and check work completed by senior and junior engineers. You will also be responsible for specifying MV/LV Transformers, GI/GNI distribution systems, and inputting to mechanical/process/machine specifications from an electrical perspective.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical direction and coordination of work completed by senior and junior engineers
  • Specifying MV/LV Transformers and GI/GNI distribution systems
  • Inputting to mechanical/process/machine specifications from an electrical perspective
  • Producing electrical engineering deliverables, including calculations, cable sizing calculations, electrical equipment data sheets, reports, and technical bid evaluations
  • Guiding designers in the production of electrical drawings, including SLDs, schematics, specifications, models, datasheets, reports, and evaluations

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering
  • Extensive experience working in engineering design in the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical handling, or water industries
  • In-depth knowledge of British Standards and regulations applicable to electrical system design
  • Proficient in power modelling software (Trimble, SKM Powertools)
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements from other disciplines required for the production of electrical deliverables
