Accountancy Assistant

We are working closely alongside a local authority in the Wirral area to assist with the appointment of a financial professional on a 3-month contract, which is highly likely to be extended at the client's discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Producing budget and accounting information and reports, including financial monitoring statements and written commentaries.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budget monitoring papers and working papers for a service area.
  • Maintaining salary working papers and agency monitoring papers, as well as other working papers such as a budget tracker and establishment working paper.
  • Preparing and processing journals.
  • Monitoring financial transactions.

Requirements:

  • AAT qualified or equivalent.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel.
  • Ability to work with services and non-financial staff.
  • Ability to work as part of a finance team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Use a thorough and methodical approach.
  • Use to reconciling large volumes of transactions, ideally experience of preparing reconciliations such as for salaries and the bank.
