About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Senior Gastroenterology Physician to join our team at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust.



Job Description


The successful candidate will be responsible for further developing and supporting the expansion of existing gastroenterology and hepatology services, as well as providing support for a 24/7 acute GI bleed service. We are looking for someone with a strong background in Gastroenterology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.



Key Responsibilities



  • Taking on-going responsibility for patients under their care
  • Providing additional support for existing Gastroenterology services and developing subspecialty gastroenterology interests, which may include hepatology
  • Participating in endoscopy training and developing faculty training skills to participate in JAG accredited endoscopy courses
  • Providing a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participating in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures
  • Demonstrating a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit


Requirements



  • MBBS (or equivalent)
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR or European Community Rights
  • Thorough and broad training in Gastroenterology
  • Teaching and commitment to education post- and under- graduate levels
  • Able to demonstrate successful participation in audit
  • Instigated, designed and completed audit projects and protocols
  • Excellent written (including record keeping) and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be a flexible team member
  • Interested in developing innovative ways of delivering patient care
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
  • Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives' dignity, privacy, integrity, cultural and religious beliefs
  • Ability to remain calm and work effectively in pressure situations
  • Good previous attendance record
