About the Role

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is a leading innovator in real-time nanopore-based DNA/RNA sequencing technology. We're seeking a skilled Scientific Software Developer to join our Customer Analysis Workflows group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain bioinformatic analyses for long-read nanopore sequencing
  • Adapt standard bioinformatic tools to our proprietary technology
  • Improve performance and usability of core bioinformatic tools
  • Collaborate with Algorithm Research colleagues to identify areas for tool development
  • Define and promote best-practices for our open-source analysis software
  • Work with our cloud platform team to deploy workflows in the cloud and with our instrument software team for deployment on sequencing devices
Requirements
  • Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field with significant programming experience
  • PhD or proven experience in DNA/RNA sequencing analysis is desirable
  • Experience in software development on Debian-based Linuxes
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (particularly GitLab)
  • Expertise in bioinformatics workflows and knowledge of workflow management software (particularly Nextflow)
