Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

As a Clinical Psychologist Specialist at NHS Scotland, you will be responsible for providing operational management, leadership, and strategic development of a specialist Pan Lothian psychology service. This service focuses on working with children and young people with moderate/severe intellectual disability who have complex psychological, mental health, or significant behavioural needs.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Intellectual Disability Service (CAMHS ID) requires a leader who can propose and implement policy and service development changes within the specialist service. You will also act as an expert resource to the wider professional community within Lothian and nationally.

Key responsibilities include the development, management, and governance of psychology teaching, training, consultancy, and supervision activities within the specialist area. Additionally, you will be responsible for the management, including assessment and treatment of a caseload of highly complex cases within the specialist field.

This role requires a strong understanding of psychology and experience in working with children and young people with intellectual disabilities. You will be expected to work collaboratively with multi-professional teams and provide leadership and strategic management within the service.

Please note that this post is based at St Roque within the Astley Ainslie Hospital. The post holder will be required to have a PVG Scheme membership/record.

NHS Scotland is committed to reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024. This reduction will also be applied pro-rata for part-time staff.
