Subject Matter Expert

The role of a Cover Tutor at HMP Millsike is pivotal in maintaining continuity of learning for prisoners. As an educational specialist, you will provide essential support across various subjects, stepping in to cover classes during absences. Your key responsibilities include delivering high-quality lessons, adapting to meet the needs of learners, and promoting literacy and employability skills.

Estimated salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum.

Your key responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across multiple disciplines.
• Offer individualised support to learners, including one-to-one coaching and focusing on reading, literacy, and personal development.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes responsibility, teamwork, and respect.
• Collaborate with other tutors, learning support practitioners, and prison staff to provide cohesive support, especially for neurodiverse learners.

Requirements:

• Level 2 qualifications in Maths, English, and ICT or Business/Employability skills.
• Full Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLS) is highly desirable, or willingness to work towards.
• Strong adaptability, planning, and organisational skills; experience with reasonable adjustments and understanding of the OFSTED framework.
