Head Chef Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our catering team at Spire Healthcare. As a key member of our hospital management team, you will be responsible for delivering a customer-focused, five-star experience to our patients, consultants, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the hospitality services team, including line reports of the catering and pantry team.
  • Plan and organize catering for the hospital on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure effective day-to-day control of all staffing rosters and pay expenditures.
  • Responsible for food safety standards within the hospital.
  • Active hands-on chef role.

Requirements:

  • Previous hotel service management experience coupled with a City and Guilds or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in supervising a team.
  • Advanced qualification/s in food hygiene or a relevant catering qualification.
  • Customer-oriented; friendly and able to exude an approachable attitude towards patients and colleagues.
  • A problem-solving approach and a leader of change.
  • A professional attitude with a concern for quality and customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Intermediate food hygiene certificate (level 3).
  • Ability to adapt menus to meet special dietary requirements.
  • Hospitality (or hospital) background - desirable.
  • Experience of managing a budget - desirable.
