Job Title: Senior Consultant

This role is an exciting opportunity to join the IT team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior Consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the delivery of server-based systems for approximately 18,000 users across a large number of NHS sites within Oxfordshire.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the delivery of server-based systems.
  • Ensure that service level agreements are met or exceeded.
  • Develop and improve processes and standards within the IM&T Services customer organisations.
  • Carry out assignments, alone or as part of a team, applying knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of current practice within own area of expertise.
Requirements:
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • GCSE 'C' grade or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • A combination of ICT Industry standard training and qualifications.
  • In-depth technical skills: Microsoft Operating Systems - Client and Server; Windows 10/11 Enterprise & Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 Desktop Experience and Core versions.
  • Active Directory Services - PKI, Group Policy and DFS.
  • Thin Client technologies - M365/Azure services - Exchange Online, Entra ID, Defender, Intune, Purview Compliance, Teams admin, SharePoint Online.
  • Citrix Workspace and Microsoft RemoteApp.
  • Hypervisors - VMWare ESXi and Hyper-V 2016+.
  • Server, SAN & NAS infrastructure and technologies including iSCSI, MPIO, NFS and SMB.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning.
  • Microsoft System Centre- SCOM, SCVMM, SCCM.
  • Exchange 2016/2019.
  • Strong Networking - CIDR, L2/L3 traffic flows, troubleshooting.
  • Backups - Veeam B&R, Veeam Data Cloud, SCDPM, Rubrik.
  • Service Management - ITIL.
  • SQL 2005-2012.
  • Linux administration and build experience.
  • Load Balancing - F5 Big IP and Citrix NetScaler.
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and beyond.
  • Citrix Workspace.
  • Dell Server and Enterprise systems - PowerEdge Servers, PowerScale.
  • Pure Storage FlashArray.
  • Microsoft Fabric - PowerBI.
  • Microsoft Power Platform - Power Automate, Power Apps.
  • NHS ICT systems.
  • Advanced scripting in PowerShell.
  • Enterprise cyber-security skills.
Desirable Skills:
  • Proven technical leadership experience, delivering solutions to time and budget.
  • Experience in a senior role within a large organisation's highly technical IT infrastructure support team.
  • Experience working in a Server related services discipline.
  • Experience in leading and delivering high quality productivity and performance of small groups.
  • Team leading.
  • Aware of financial and operational influences on projects.
  • NHS experience.
Communication & Relationship skills:
  • Ability to relate appropriately to various professional groups both within and outside the Trust.
  • Good communication (spoken and written) skills.
  • Ability to document work accurately.
  • Thorough understanding of customer and supplier organisations.
  • Ability to write clear reports and present business cases.
  • Driver with access to transport.

Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 per annum pro rata
