Overview

The Global Research team at Waters is responsible for delivering a strategically aligned portfolio of breakthrough innovations sourced by both internal inventions and external collaborations and partnerships. Our team collaborates with customers, academic institutions, and industry partners to tap into expertise, share knowledge, and develop solutions that meet evolving and difficult customer challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team to assist ongoing research projects involving real-time control of state-of-the-art instrumentation using C++ and scripting languages.
  • Design and develop prototype software solutions for Waters instrumentation.
  • Provide software and technical support to users internal and external to the group, and company.
Accountability
  • Accountable for own work, safety, and operation of instrumentation.
  • Apply intermediate knowledge in specific scientific focus areas.
  • Work independently with mentorship from higher-level scientists and engineers/manager/team leader or segment leader.
  • Develop limited market and competitive awareness.

  • Diagnose issues, perform tests, and provide recommendations on a variety of problems of moderate scope.
  • Analyze and start to interpret data and results.

Qualifications
  • Degree in a science, engineering, or computing-related subject and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Software Engineering Specific Experience
  • Proven experience in modern C++, object-oriented programming, scripting languages, and ideally Rust.
  • Experience in microcontroller, firmware, or GPU (OpenCL/CUDA) development would be an advantage.
Aptitude / Skills Required
  • Very good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with moderate guidance and connect with all levels of the group.
