About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our General Theatre Anaesthetic team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic services to patients undergoing general, breast, and colorectal surgery, as well as other specialties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing anaesthetic services for general, breast, and colorectal surgery, as well as other specialties
  • Participating in the general on-call rota covering non-cardiac emergency surgery and supporting maternity services
  • Developing and implementing service development initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Supervising and mentoring junior anaesthetists and other healthcare professionals
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date
  • Full registration with the GMC
  • Primary medical qualification
  • FRCA or equivalent
  • Advanced Life Support qualification
  • Qualification in Paediatric Life Support
  • Advanced training in Anaesthetic Sub-speciality
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Full log book summary
  • Management or leadership Training or qualification
  • Experience of Chronic Pain, Paediatric surgery, Obstetrics, Perioperative medicine, Cardiopulmonary exercise testing, MRI sedation and anaesthesia, Regional anaesthesia and Advanced IV access
