About The Role

M Group Services is seeking a Senior Civils Estimator to join our team in the Northern Business Unit. As a Senior Estimator, you will be part of the up-front team, responsible for delivering accurate and timely estimates across a mix of clean and wastewater projects involving capital delivery works, frameworks, and competitive tenders.

The successful candidate will provide estimating support with bids and contracts to ensure robust pricing, risk management, and governance. They will also assist and advise the Senior Management Team on commercial influences and risks around any bids.

Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to produce accurate and timely estimates/cost data is a key aspect of this role. The ideal candidate will ensure that supplier/subcontractor terms are back to back with client requirements and will impact assess any deviations.

Responsibilities will include prioritizing workload, supporting the team to produce results in a timely manner to meet business needs, and day-to-day liaison with key stakeholders, such as customers and operational colleagues.

Key Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Experience within the water industry is essential, preferably within both water and wastewater, infra and non-infra environments.
  • Effective communication and negotiating skills are crucial for this role.
  • Excellent people management skills are required to lead the team effectively.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and influence change is essential.
  • Commercial and contractual knowledge and understanding of various forms of NEC Contracts (Options A to E) are necessary.
  • Able to follow process and governance, and present and use planning and visual software applications.
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of estimating tools and techniques, and estimating software packages such as Conquest, Causeway, Candy, etc.
  • A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

Preferably degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Cost & Planning, or similar, but industry experience will also be considered.
