About the Role:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Care Lawyer to join our team at Powys County Council. As a Social Care Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the Council in relation to Childcare and Adults Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to the Council on social care law matters, including childcare and adults services.
  • Represent the Council in legal proceedings, including courts, tribunals, inquiries, and negotiations.
  • Develop and maintain robust legal management systems to ensure compliance with public law order (PLO) timescales.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including social care teams and external bodies.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legal issues and practice management matters.
  • Prepare complex legal documentation and negotiate with external bodies.

About You:

  • You will be a qualified lawyer with a current practicing certificate.
  • You will have experience of providing guidance and support to colleagues and social care legal teams.
  • You will have an excellent track record of building internal and external relationships that deliver results.
  • You will demonstrate a responsive and effective customer-focused approach.
