We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at a leading manufacturing business in Preston.

This is a permanent role created due to continued expansion and business growth.

The successful candidate will have a proven background working within an FMCG / Industrial maintenance based role within a manufacturing environment. Experience working with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Motors, Pumps, and Conveyors is essential. Experience with Electrical Maintenance is also advantageous, including PLC Fault Finding.

This is a shift-based role working 4 on 4 off (2 Days 6AM - 6PM + 2 Nights 6PM - 6AM).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To ensure all equipment is in a safe & serviceable condition to maintain & enhance performance of all machinery.
  2. Reduce engineering downtime, respond rapidly to machine failures & breakdowns.
  3. Undertake projects and assist with all on-site installations.
  4. To maintain open and clear lines of communication with management and fellow colleagues.
  5. To develop & improve planned maintenance schedules.
  6. To prioritise work within the engineering department & deploy resources accordingly.
  7. To identify training needs or 'weak spots' within the department.

Requirements:

  1. Demonstrable experience working within a maintenance role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  2. Candidates must be time served with a demonstrable background in Mechanical Maintenance.
  3. Familiar with Siemens PLCs.
  4. Knowledge of Mechanical systems including Conveyors, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Motors, Pumps.
  5. Strong communication skills.
