Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver programmes of study to small groups of students, promoting academic progress and achievement.
  • Identify and support students requiring intervention, ensuring they meet their targets and reach their full potential.
  • Liaise with parents to discuss student attendance, progress, and attitude, working together to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, informing teaching and support strategies.
  • Provide constructive feedback and marking, promoting student understanding and improvement.
  • Contribute to creating a purposeful learning environment, using behaviour management strategies to support student engagement and motivation.
  • Support students in tutor group time, promoting social skills and academic development.
  • Highlight individual students' learning needs to teachers, agreeing support strategies to enhance student learning.
  • Assist in evaluating student progress, informing teaching and support decisions.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications in English, Maths, or Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of strategies for working with students with challenging behaviours, and an understanding of social issues affecting disadvantaged students.
  • Understanding of child development and learning processes, including barriers to learning.
  • Ability to plan effective actions for students at risk of underachieving, and experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment.
