Canteen Job Description

Canteen Assistant (Maternity Cover)

The Langham, London is currently recruiting for a Canteen Assistant to work in The Yard, our colleague restaurant. The Canteen Assistant responsible for supporting an effective canteen service to all of the colleagues at The Langham London; ensuring daily meals are provided in a safe and clean environment, working under the direction of the Executive Sous Chef.

As Canteen Assistant, your main role will be to:

  • Provide a clean and well-maintained canteen for colleagues
  • Deliver great and friendly service in a busy environment
  • Ensure the availability of food and drinks during opening times of The Yard
  • Work closely with the Staff Chefs and Back of House colleagues to maintain continuous supply of food, drinks, crockery during service
  • Ensure all food is stored and handled correctly and meets the requirements of good food hygiene practice.
  • Work with Human Resources on projects eg themed meals, Christmas lunch
  • Provide feedback to the Executive Sous Chef
  • Work independently and resourcefully

The ideal Canteen Assistant will have –

  • Experience in a customer service environment, is engaging and adaptable
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully
  • Good organisation skills and is able to prioritise
  • Good assertive skills in a professional way
  • Availability to work 47.5/week, Monday - Friday
  • Food safety training (desirable)
