University Laboratory Education Support Associate
The University of Minnesota Rochester is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Education Support Associate to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory education support services, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our science-based disciplines.
Responsibilities50% Laboratory Organization and Compliance
- Manage laboratory space to meet the needs of our academic and teaching/learning research priorities, including daily coordination and preparation of academic instructional lab space.
- Oversee laboratory stock and inventory, including delivery and disposal, to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations.
- Perform regular safety inspections of equipment and chemical inventory, addressing any issues that arise.
30% Media and Reagent Preparation
- Procure and prepare media, reagents, and other materials for classes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Determine the necessary materials for each lab period through consultation with faculty and teaching assistants.
- Place orders with vendors and maintain cultures of microbes, plants, and animals for laboratory use.
20% Support for Teaching Assistants and Faculty
- Assist faculty instructors in coordinating and managing experiments, as needed.
- Attend lab meetings and maintain contact with lead teaching assistants to ensure timely resolutions to any issues that arise.
- Supervise and instruct student workers on proper laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
