About the Role

Skanska, a leading project development and construction group, is seeking a Commercial Director to join its Infrastructure team. This role will have commercial responsibility for the £450m Kent Roads project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of commercial, procurement, and risk management functions to ensure successful financial outcomes.
  • Develop individuals and teams to their full potential, ensuring commercial, procurement, and risk control capabilities meet future needs.
  • Report on project financial positions against budget and other financial targets, along with associated risk profiles.
  • Proactively manage commercial positions on projects to outperform targets.
  • Provide commercial advice and management for managing change on the project.
  • Liaise with Skanska's Legal Department on contract agreements and changes post-award.
  • Liaise with departments, including legal, to manage formal dispute resolution processes and ensure significant claims are managed according to company procedures.
  • Implement best practices in commercial procedures to ensure effective contract management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, the Skanska Code of Conduct, and Health, Safety, and Environment issues.
  • Awareness of sustainability and social agendas and proactive management.

Requirements

  • Excellent collaborative leadership skills.
  • Comprehensive level of commercial experience within a tier one contractor.
  • Experience in leading infrastructure construction projects over £100 million.
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or relevant, demonstrable experience.
  • Member of RICS, ICES, or ICE, preferably a Fellow or the desire to join.
  • Excellent working knowledge of contract conditions/law.
  • Clear thinker who copes well under pressure.
