Dental Core Trainee 2: A Career-Defining Opportunity

Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board as part of the Dental Core Training 2 programme, which offers the chance to broaden your knowledge and experience within the dental profession. The programme is a recognised career pathway after the completion of Dental Foundation Training (DFT).
Main Responsibilities
- Gain valuable experience in working in Community Dental Services
- Provide domiciliary care throughout the health board's footprint, requiring a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Work as part of a large multidisciplinary community dental team, alongside experienced clinicians, including specialists and consultants
- Manage patients referred from primary care general dental practices and other professionals
- Work with vulnerable patients in the community
- Gain experience in specialist patient pathways, such as sedation and general anaesthetic

Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or equivalent dental qualification
- Registration with the General Dental Council
- Evidence of completion of a UK Dental Core Training Year 1 programme or equivalent by the time of post commencement
- At least 24 months Whole Time Equivalent (WTE) postgraduate experience to the scope of a dentist by time of post commencement
- Eligible to join the Dental Performers List (Wales)
- Experience of clinical governance, including clinical audit or significant event analysis
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to arrange transport to meet the requirements of the post
- Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge and awareness to full investigation of problems
- Capable of conducting operative procedures
- Understanding of the principles and relevance of clinical research
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Capacity to adjust behaviour and language as appropriate to needs of differing situations
- Capacity to think beyond the obvious, with analytical and flexible mind
- Capacity and motivation to take in others' perspectives and to treat others with understanding
- Demonstrates an understanding of a patient-centred approach
- Capacity to work effectively in partnership with others as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrate effective organisational skills, including ability to plan and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
- Good use of IT systems and packages
- Potential to cope with stressful situations and undertake responsibility
