Job Description

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 per year

We are seeking a skilled Staff Nurse to join our team as a Development Community Staff Nurse for Health Visiting. This is an exciting opportunity to work with families and children in the community, promoting health and wellbeing.

About the Role:

  • We require a registered nurse who is passionate about public health and has experience in working with families and children.
  • You will be responsible for supporting health visitors in delivering high-quality care to families in the community.
  • This role offers a fast-tracked pathway to the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) course, enabling you to qualify as a Health Visitor.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Support families in various community settings, following the guidance of the Health Visitor, while considering the diverse social, health, and wellbeing needs of the community.
  2. Plan and deliver health activities for children and families, including group sessions, child health clinics, developmental reviews, and one-on-one support.
  3. Help families using the Solihull Approach for behaviour management, parenting skills, and care programs, especially for vulnerable families identified by the Health Visitor.
  4. Promote breastfeeding and strengthen parent-infant relationships by applying UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards.
  5. Collaborate with other agencies to provide seamless support for children and families, under the direction of the Health Visitor.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the Health Visiting service
  • Competent to use a range of IT systems and databases
  • Demonstrates an interest in public health and health education
  • Documented evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development
