We're seeking a skilled Safety Case Engineer to join our team in Thurso, Scotland. Our site has a rich history, having operated the Vulcan Naval Reactor Test Establishment for 50 years on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

  • Develop and review safety cases to ensure an approved safe working envelope for our nuclear facilities and key site programmes.
  • Review changes to our site safety management arrangements, ensuring relevant safety case and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure safety implications are fully considered and changes are appropriately detailed and approved through site due process.
  • Provide practical and technical advice on the application, implementation, and limitations of applicable site safety management arrangements, facility, and process safety cases, taking account of enterprise and industry best practice.
  • Perform activities in accordance with site safety management arrangements.

Requirements:

  • Good understanding and demonstrable experience of safety case production, development, and review, including the use of hazard identification and assessment techniques.
  • Experience working in the nuclear industry or other well-regulated environments is essential.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to work as part of an integrated project team to agreed programmes.
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science-based subject or relevant industry experience. Due to the nature of our work, you must hold a UK nationality.
