Paediatric Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our team as a Junior Sister/HDU Lead at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
Key Responsibilities- As the designated High Dependency Unit (HDU) lead, you will be responsible for advancing the development and improvement of the HDU services within the unit.
- You will collaborate with the HDU lead consultant and participate in the HDU working group to drive service improvement.
- You will have a substantial experience in delivering both general and specialized paediatric services.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust in the south-east of England, providing a full range of general hospital services and some aspects of specialist and complex care to around 600,000 people living in west Kent and East Sussex.
We have a team of over 8,000 full and part-time staff and provide specialist cancer services to around 2 million people across Kent and East Sussex via the Kent Oncology Centre.
Person Specification- Essential qualifications include RSCN/RN Child, EPLS/APLS course, Mentor/assessor qualification, and Obtained or working towards 1st level degree.
- Desirable qualifications include ACP, HDU post registrations course or equivalent experience, Simulation experience, and EPLS instructor.
- Essential experience includes extensive experience within a PICU or HDU Level 2 and previous experience of working at Band 5 or equivalent.
- Desirable experience includes experience of multi-disciplinary working, evidence of supporting and implementing change, and management/leadership experience.
- Essential knowledge includes extensive knowledge of speciality, knowledge of current clinical evidence based practice, knowledge of current changes in NHS and Social Services, knowledge of current professional issues relating to nursing, understanding of equal opportunities, and understanding of patient confidentiality.
- Desirable knowledge includes knowledge of clinical audit, knowledge of appraisal, staff management, and budget management.
- Essential skills include demonstrable organisational and clinical skills, ability to support and manage a caseload of patients, ability to organise and deliver good standards of research based clinical nursing care, ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, excellent inter-personal and counselling skills, ability to liaise effectively with members of the Primary Health Care team and other agencies, ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work, ability to act as a role model to others, and competent in all forms of medication administration to children and young people.
- Desirable skills include phlebotomy and cannulation skills, triage and assessment skills, BCG/immunisation skills, and HDU skills set.
