Job Description:
New Directions Holding is collaborating with an outstanding primary school to fill the role of a supportive teaching assistant. This opportunity arises as the school seeks to maintain its high standards of education and student support, following a recent inspection that recognised its excellence.

Responsibilities:
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
- Be encouraging and supportive.
- Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.
The role involves supporting children with additional needs, requiring consistent mentoring, motivating and advising, as well as some counselling, to ensure their well-being remains stable and they can achieve more in their education and work towards an independent future.
Applicants must be prepared to practice De-escalation and calming techniques, maintaining an empathetic approach and understanding that behaviours stem from other problems. Candidates from care, sports, psychology, criminology, sociology and youth work backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
- Have experience working with children, or adults, with additional needs
- Hold a L2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Able to support children of all abilities.
- Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning.
