Credit and Collections Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a Debt Recovery Manager to join our finance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the credit control process, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining accurate records.
Salary: Competitive salary dependent on experience (£38,000 - £55,000 per annum).
Job Description:
The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail. They will be responsible for assessing creditworthiness of potential clients, setting credit limits, and managing credit terms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Management: Assess creditworthiness of potential clients, set credit limits, and manage credit terms.
- Debt Collection: Proactively chase outstanding invoices via phone, email, and letters to ensure timely payments.
- Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile customer accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on outstanding debts, collections, and credit status for management review.
- Customer Relations: Maintain positive relationships with clients while effectively managing overdue accounts.
- Compliance: Ensure all credit control activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all credit control activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit control, preferably within an SME environment.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a solid customer service approach.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Customer-focused with a professional demeanor.
