Key Responsibilities
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead: Serve as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing timely and effective support to students, staff, and external agencies.

  • Safeguarding Policy Development: Lead on the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines.
  • Safeguarding Training and Guidance: Provide guidance and training to staff on safeguarding and child protection matters, creating a culture of vigilance.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and actions taken, ensuring all documentation is up to date and confidential.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in a safeguarding role, ideally within an education setting.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing leadership in safeguarding issues.
  • Equality and Diversity: A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the college community.
  • DBS Clearance: Enhanced DBS clearance.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Safeguarding Qualifications: Level 3 or above qualification in safeguarding or child protection.
  • Education Experience: Previous experience in a college or secondary school setting.
  • Safeguarding Training Experience: Experience in delivering safeguarding training.
