Job Summary

The post holder will work as part of the Community Intensive Therapy Team (CITT) to support children and young people with complex, high-risk emotional well-being and mental health difficulties.

They will collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide support to children and young people and their family/carers in the community during times of distress.

Close teamwork is essential, working alongside health colleagues, local authorities, education, and 3rd sector partners.

Main Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Child Mental Health Specialist to join our Community Intensive Therapy Team within the Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Care Group.

The post holder will be expected to support children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties who may face challenges in the community such as meeting educational and social needs.

Close collaboration with the young person and their family or carer will be required to offer community intervention and monitor mental health needs while being supported by the wider CAMHS Multi-Disciplinary Team.

A strong ability to communicate effectively in English is desirable, and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.

Job Requirements

  • NVQ III in Healthcare qualification or relevant experience, knowledge, and training working with Children and Young People.
  • Experience of working with Children and Young People in a similar environment.
  • Awareness of Child and Adolescent Normal Development.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work within a team, and autonomously.
  • Ability to work flexibly under close supervision.
