Job Title: Transport Planner

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join our team at Gregory Distribution. As a Transport Planner, you will play a crucial role in planning and organizing the activities of our Transport Operation, ensuring efficient delivery and collection services nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize transport operations, including deliveries and collections, to meet customer requirements and optimize vehicle utilization.
  • Use fleet management software to plan loads and optimize routes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for on-time delivery, shift revenue, and vehicle utilization.
  • Manage and debrief drivers on a daily/weekly basis to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with warehouse and on-site shunter teams to ensure trailers and vehicles are available when required.
  • Ensure vehicle checks and defects are completed and recorded via the Vehicle Check App.
  • Communicate collection times and delivery bookings with internal and external customers.
  • Meet with line managers regularly to ensure efficient operations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to add value to the contract and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all contracted work is booked through our internal department and meets customer expectations.
  • Meet daily revenue KPI targets and report to the Transport Manager on a weekly basis.
  • Update and monitor TMS systems related to contracted deliveries.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, and data input.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role in the retail sector of the logistics industry is advantageous but not necessary.
  • Strong geographical knowledge and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organizational skills, prioritizing workload, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
