This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 5 days, 9am-5pm.
We are pleased to advertise this Occupational Therapist Technical Instructor post within our highly motivated and innovative medium secure team.
The forensic Occupational Therapy Department works across medium and low security and in the forensic community Mental Health team. The role of the forensic Occupational Therapist department is based on the evidence that engagement in meaningful everyday activity is important for promoting health, reducing symptoms of mental illness, reducing or managing risk, and offending behavior.
Under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist within the forensic directorate, the post holder will be expected to:
- Use technical and creative skills to assist in the provision of a flexible client-centered programme of therapeutic activities for individuals or groups of clients who experience mental health difficulties and have offending behaviors.
- Facilitate planned group work and individual activities, with adjustment of clinical interventions based on the needs of the client group.
- Have an awareness and understanding of risk assessment and risk management.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
