About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Back End Developer to join our team at esure Group. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will play a crucial role in designing, crafting, and supporting new technical products and services to drive our business forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and construct digital and technical products, collaborating with our Agile team to shape and develop esure's future.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, ensuring seamless integration into our continuous deployment environment.
  • Provide 2nd line support for applications and platforms, occasionally beyond regular office hours.
  • Actively drive the enterprise Agile and transformation journey, identifying areas for technical product improvement and reducing technical debt.
  • Challenge existing processes to improve departmental efficiency and ways of working.
Requirements
  • Developer experience in scaled Agile, with delivery partners and 3rd party applications.
  • Strong technical expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
  • Proficient in Spring Boot, with Apache Kafka experience desirable.
  • Expertise in microservices, database programming, event streaming, and queueing technologies in a cloud-based environment.
  • Effective communication of technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Worked on technical projects within cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge and practice of code quality techniques like continuous integration, unit testing, and peer reviews.
  • Rapid research and adaptation to new programming tools and techniques.
  • Experience in building and scaling high-traffic websites or mission-critical line-of-business systems.
  • Automated integration and acceptance testing experience, preferably with a BDD framework.
