Weekend Veterinary Patient Care Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Weekend Veterinary Patient Care Assistant at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists.

About the Role

The Patient Care Assistant role is a vital part of our veterinary practice, and as a PCA, you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide exceptional care to our patients.

  • Nursing care to patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment, samples, catheter placements, and medications
  • Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
  • Preparation of theatre; helping set up/close down and clean kits
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Running internal urine and blood lab samples, sending samples away, and preparing medication prescriptions
  • Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments, and taking payments
Requirements

We are looking for an excellent communicator with strong empathy, experience in animal welfare, and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals. Resilience, a positive attitude, and excellent teamwork skills are also essential.
