Job Title: Healthcare Support Worker

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care on the Medical Assessment Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will have the chance to develop your skills and make a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Registered Nurses in the delivery of effective patient care, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in meetings and handovers to discuss patient progress and care.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels on the ward or department.
  • Undertake errand duties, including transporting specimens, collecting instruments and drugs, and collecting case notes as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of patient case notes as required.

Person Specification
  • Effective level of numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Proven ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate compassion/empathy/help others.
  • Proven ability to be flexible in your approach.
  • Speaks English to a good standard.
Working Circumstances and On-Call

Shifts of 6 or 12 hours to include nights and weekends. Rosters are planned and released six weeks in advance.
