The Opportunity

CV Library is working with a leading Building Services Consultancy to find a Principal Electrical Engineer to manage an existing design team.

The Position

As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the running of various projects. You will undertake a client-facing role in the development, design, and coordination of engineering project services for Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities, etc.

  1. Develop and specify applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes.
  2. Carry out surveys, tests, and dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations.
  3. Specify activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  4. Make day-to-day decisions on project progress and direct liaison with and provide advice to clients.
  5. Represent the Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractors.
  6. Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.
  7. Lead on the coordination of engineering services.
  8. Take a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions.

The Person

As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you should have at least seven years of industry experience with the ability to run medium to large-sized projects and undertake a client-facing role in the development, design, and coordination of engineering projects.

  1. Hold a BSc/BEng or degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience.
  2. Have significant experience of specification design for several building types.
  3. Be familiar with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  4. Be able to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.
  5. Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC, and Technical Review perspective.
