About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our Technical Procurement & Production Function, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing technical components for our programs of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Management: Source and engage with suppliers, manage RFI / RFQ documentation, and provide technical purchasing guidance to other divisions.
  • Inventory Management: Identify and deliver stockholding, cash flow, and capital employed improvement opportunities.
  • Documentation and Administration: Administer all documentation associated with receipts, invoices, and delivery notes.
  • Quality Control: Oversee the operation of the Dispatch Note system to ensure authorized releases of goods.
  • Project Coordination: Provide project managers with accurate information on product availability and delivery dates.
  • Supplier Performance: Monitor and improve supplier performance, including on-time delivery, right-first-time-in-full, and non-conformance rates.
  • Communication: Form the single point of contact for all technical purchasing matters and queries, interacting with technical suppliers as necessary.
  • Research and Development: Conduct industry research, stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Order Management: Place orders on suppliers for technical spend and ensure all Purchase Orders are processed and approved.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and highlight areas for continuous improvement and ensure effective supervision of sub-contractor activity.
  • Supplier Relationships: Establish and manage supplier relationships, negotiate purchase agreements, and review existing supply agreements.
  • Cost Savings: Identify and deliver cost-down opportunities with incumbent and new suppliers without compromising quality, service, or performance metrics.
  • Value Analysis: Conduct value analysis, maintain awareness of market trends, and seek trials for alternative materials or suppliers.
  • Supply Chain Management: Utilize the company's information systems and personal skills to ensure effective supply and control of goods and materials.
  • Supplier Base Review: Periodically review the current supplier base and identify opportunities for improvement and supplier consolidation.
  • Business Continuity: Review dependency on specific suppliers and identify/establish appropriate contingency plans.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy requirements within your areas of responsibility.
