Curator of Global Collections

The Nationalmuseums is seeking a highly skilled Curator of Global Collections to lead and manage the department of Africa Oceania and the Americas. As part of this team, you will oversee curatorial and academic work, including collection care and community engagement.

  • This role requires strong leadership skills to ensure safety and security of the collection, collaborating with other expert colleagues.
  • You will develop ideas and plans to support the Museum's core aims and objectives, driving high-quality research and engagement outputs.
  • As a key member of the team, you will provide guidance and support to curatorial colleagues, ensuring excellence in all aspects of their work.
  • Careful collaboration with colleagues is essential to ensure appropriate care, documentation, and presentation of the collection.
  • Evidence of international recognition as a scholar in a relevant field is expected, along with an excellent understanding of the Museum and wider academic and cultural world.
  • Suitable candidates will have significant management experience and a proven track record of managing high-performance teams.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nationalmuseums and contribute to the advancement of human knowledge and culture.

We offer a competitive salary range £50,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a generous benefits package including:

  • Annual leave allowance of 25 days plus 2.5 privilege days and bank holidays.
  • Membership of the civil service defined benefit pension scheme.
  • Participation in private and public Museum activities, including talks by leading curators and behind-the-scenes opportunities.
