Job Description

Job Title: Head of Clinical Investigation Unit

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Trials Unit's expanding research portfolio of multicentre clinical trials. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational planning and oversight, leading the Unit's Operations Group, and coordinating resources and timelines across trial teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operational planning and oversight of our Trials Unit's expanding research portfolio of multicentre clinical trials.
  • Lead the Unit's Operations Group, comprising of the leaders of its constituent professional teams, to review, improve and introduce trial processes and unit practices to maximise efficiency.
  • Coordinate resources and timelines across trial teams, and monitor study progress.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the Unit's research objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Requirements:

  • Extensive research experience in the design and conduct of clinical trials.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Operational and change management, strategic and planning skills.

About Us: We are a rapidly growing UK Clinical Research Collaboration registered Clinical Trials Unit based in our School of Medicine. Our mission is to conduct top quality, high impact multicentre clinical trials across a range of health areas which will improve health outcomes.

Working Arrangements: The post is offered on a fixed-term contract for three years. Hours of work are full-time (36 hours per week), however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). The post can either be fully office-based or open to a hybrid working model with a blended approach of home and office working in line with the University's agile working framework and our operational requirements.
