Senior Tax Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Accountant to join our team at Smith Schafer & Associates Ltd. This role will involve preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, providing coaching and training to junior accountants, and working closely with managers and principals to assist clients with tax planning and financial statement preparation.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and lead the preparation of individual and business tax returns.
- Complete initial reviews and prepare complex tax returns.
- Provide leadership and training to staff and junior accountants.
- Assist with tax planning and lead specific assigned projects.
- Prepare and review compiled financial statements.
- Work in a team environment with principals, managers, and staff.
- Understand and effectively use current tax and accounting software applications.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Identify areas of specialization and engage in learning about the Firm's business development efforts.
- Represent the Firm at assigned business and community functions.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Two years of experience in tax planning and preparation, tax-related projects.
- Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A high level of organization, focus, and attention to detail.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Three years of experience in tax planning, preparation, and tax-related projects.
- Experience with ProSystems tax preparation software, QuickBooks, and CCH Engagement.
- Customer-service oriented, demonstrated by proactive, observant, knowledgeable, and reliable attributes.
- CPA exam passed or on track to complete.
The ability to lift up to 20 pounds, stand or sit for extended periods, and type/enter data at a keyboard regularly.
