About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Data Science and Analytics to lead our data initiatives and influence business strategy through actionable insights. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic leader with extensive experience in data science methodologies, AI, and machine learning to make a significant impact.

About the Role

As a thought leader on data utilisation, predictive modelling, and advanced analytics, you'll champion data-driven decision-making, supporting the CDIO in enhancing digital and data-led competencies across our workforce of over 12,000 nationally distributed colleagues. You'll build and nurture the data team, leading, mentoring and developing a team of data scientists, analysts, and data engineers, ensuring a balanced mix of skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deep expertise in data science, analytics, predictive modelling, and advanced analytics, with a focus on AI and machine learning.
  • Experience of creating environments where people are motivated to do their best, with specific experience of developing and growing data science and analytics teams.
  • Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or relevant tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik, Tableau) and platforms, preferably Azure & Databricks.
  • Strong business acumen, including project management with the ability to translate data insights into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership capability with high levels of influence in building strategic partnerships and working collaboratively to meet shared objectives.
  • A result focussed approach, with the drive to consistently achieve.
