Job Summary

We are seeking a Domestic Assistant to join our team in Dundee locality. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness in our healthcare setting, including wards, side rooms, theatres, offices, health centres, and GP practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team or independently, including lone working
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen and communicate effectively
  • Respond constructively to unpredictable situations and work well under pressure
  • Complete domestic-related paperwork accurately and efficiently
  • Awareness of basic health and safety and infection control issues associated with the role
  • Carry out tasks in a methodical and organized manner
  • Follow instructions and guidelines
  • Participate in mandatory training, both online and face-to-face
  • Undertake a range of duties safely and competently, including walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, using appropriate aids
  • Work in busy clinical and non-clinical environments, including areas with increased heat, secure units, and areas with distressed patients
  • Work in environments that may be classified as infected
  • Maintain a professional approach and attitude
  • Understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to new situations

Working Arrangements

All Domestic Assistants are required to work throughout NHS Tayside at various sites and areas as needed. Informal enquiries can be made to Anne Duncan, Domestic Team Lead.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to complete the Health Care Support Workers Workbook to ensure they are competent in their role and comply with the Code of Conduct throughout their employment. NHS Tayside has a legal obligation to ensure that it does not employ any worker who has not been granted the relevant permission to work in the UK.
