Estimator Job Description

Linear Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing detailed pricing for HV & EHV civil & cable installations up to 132kV in the public highway.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review tender documents and interpret requirements to develop the bid strategy.
  • Identify and anticipate potential risks associated with tendering and bidding.
  • Liaise with street works department to obtain Gazetteer information & Local Authority restrictions.
  • Prepare bespoke cost models from first principles for estimating, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Liaise with Project and Delivery Managers to determine outputs, programme, resource, and approach to pricing of schemes.
  • Prepare tender submissions, including negotiating and analyzing costs, and evaluating subcontract responses.
  • Finalize bid review and sign off with Divisional Director / Senior Managers prior to submission of bid.
  • Attend post-tender reviews and BAFO meetings.
  • Provide detailed build-up to rates and pricing for successful tender to delivery team & QS.
Requirements:
  • Degree or HNC in estimating or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Competent in use of MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Office Outlook.
  • Previous experience in the Utilities Sector.
  • Good knowledge of civil engineering in particular utility contracting.
