Key Responsibilities:
To provide a comprehensive Histopathology / Cytopathology / Andrology / post mortem examination service for the Trust, collaborating with colleagues in all disciplines to achieve an integrated service for patients.
Professional Development:
To develop special skills and interests appropriate to the department's overall development, providing specialist advice and skills training to colleagues as required.
Collaboration and Governance:
To develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues, participating in multidisciplinary meetings and postgraduate meetings, and taking joint responsibility for the professional supervision and development of training posts.
Clinical Governance and Audit:
To demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management, and Clinical Audit, developing and maintaining appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice.
Research and Development:
To participate in medical audit and research as appropriate, and to participate in the management of service within Cellular Pathology and where appropriate within BCPS.
Communication and Professional Development:
To develop and maintain good communications with General Medical (and Dental) Practitioners and appropriate outside agencies, ensuring own practice is up to date and participating in the Trust's Performance Review.
Teamwork and Delegation:
To operate a system of cover for annual, study, and professional leave, deputising for absent colleagues as far as is practicable, and maintaining professional standards and obligations as set out by the General Medical Council.
