About this role:

As a Senior Nurse - Outpatients with GenesisCare, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality outpatient nursing services to patients within our state-of-the-art cancer care centre.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals throughout their treatment journey.
  2. Assist with diagnostic procedures and collaborate with consultants to deliver exceptional patient care.
  3. Organise and support outpatient clinics, ensuring efficient and effective patient flow.
  4. Liaise closely with GenesisCare consultants to ensure seamless communication and care coordination.
  5. Implement and maintain the highest levels of evidence-based nursing practice to enhance patient outcomes.
  6. Work within GenesisCare policies and protocols to ensure compliance and quality care.
  7. Practice immediate life support to stabilise patients in emergency situations.
  8. Assist in the development and audit of assessment tools to ensure appropriate nursing interventions.
  9. Ensure all care is given in accordance with agreed protocols and national care standards.
  10. Collaborate with radiographers, chemotherapy teams, and outpatient staff to provide holistic care.
  11. Ensure patients are fully informed of risks and benefits, contributing to the process of securing informed consent.
  12. Produce and provide patients with relevant, accessible written information regarding their treatment.
  13. Supervise and participate in education and training programs to enhance staff development.
  14. Lead on specific areas of nursing practice development within the team.
  15. Provide expert knowledge and advice in your specialist area, ensuring maintenance of clinical excellence.
  16. Participate in clinical audit to enhance patient care and inform business development plans.
  17. Utilise up-to-date research and evidence to deliver patient care and disseminate knowledge to the multi-professional team.
  18. Act as a mentor, providing peer support to staff working in outpatient services.
  19. Take responsibility for competency assessment and staff mentorship.
  20. Comply with measures to actively manage and reduce risk to patients, reporting and recording adverse incidents.
  21. Ensure confidentiality of information and meet NMC standards for record-keeping.
  22. Participate in service evaluation, focusing on clinical effectiveness, excellence, and cost benefit.

Requirements:

  1. Registered nurse with a valid NMC Pin.
  2. Phlebotomy experience.
  3. ILS training.
  4. Post-registration professional development (desirable).
  5. Advanced communications, counselling, or teaching qualifications (desirable).
  6. Ability to use common software packages and databases.
