Job Title: Buying Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Buying Manager to join our team at Avantus Aerospace Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving the effectiveness of procurement and sourcing as a core strategic discipline and a major driver of value creation within our business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust processes around procurement activities, focusing on identifying and evaluating new potential sources of supply, reducing total cost of ownership, and leading commercial sourcing negotiations.
  • Monitor savings against agreed cost reduction targets and manage all aspects of vendor performance in collaboration with the Quality Department.
  • Support the sales team in delivering value to customers, managing, and creating quotations in a timely manner.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including supplier approval, rating, and reviews.
  • Identify new potential sources of supply, support all necessary technical appraisals and evaluations, and work with key suppliers to align stock availability to customer demand while reducing stock levels within the business.

Requirements:

  • Practical experience within the MRO / aftermarket and distribution sector; sealing industry experience is desirable.
  • Engineering procurement bias preferred; understanding of material specifications, drawing interpretation, and process capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of material requirement planning (MRP), preferably experience of implementing and developing MRP best practices.
  • Demonstrable supply chain knowledge, e.g., stock, inventory turn improvement, freight, duty, and transport cost improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in project management.
  • IT literate.

Accountabilities:

  • Generating year-on-year cost savings through purchasing process improvements and cost reduction negotiations.
  • Developing planning models focused on material availability while reducing overall stock holding of the business.

Working Environment:

The Buying Manager will work largely unsupervised, with internal support as required, and will manage issues involved in effectively supporting overseas operations.

Reporting Line:

The Buying Manager will report to the Operations Director.
