Ultra Maritime Test Engineer - Assistant Team Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Test Engineer - Assistant Team Leader to join our team at Ultra Maritime in Rugeley, Staffordshire. As a key member of our Test Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and policies, maintaining a safe and legally compliant working environment.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct functional and system testing on MOD and commercial equipment, adhering to standard safe operating procedures and MOD/commercial standards.
  • Safety Documents: Issue and/or receive safety documents such as permits-to-work, ensuring adherence to HV Switching safety standards and requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with the Engineering department to influence design for Test parameters, plan and schedule resource to optimize throughput, and monitor actual cost and schedule performances versus targets.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Lead regular project-specific meetings to ensure stakeholders are informed of relevant issues and progress, and produce Test/Sensor department 'cost to complete' KPI's and monitor progress.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate and adhere to Ultra Maritime's Integrity, Transparency & Alignment, and carry out any other duties as reasonably required by Management.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: GCSE Grade C/4 Math's & English or equivalent, HNC in Electrical and Electronic Technology or equivalent, and IPC 620 qualification or equivalent.
  • Skills: Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements and legislation, experience in a comparable role within a similar industry, and ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Apprentice trained, Supervisory or Team Leader qualification (ILM/CMI/NVQ or equivalent), and knowledge of ERP systems (such as IFS).

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel and Relocation: Travel to alternative locations in the UK and abroad to undertake occasional off-site activities, and relocation support may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain relevant security vetting clearance required for the role.
