Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to fill the role of a Pastoral & Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in a challenging primary school for boys aged 6-11.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring probation officers to gain essential restorative experience within anti-social and challenging settings. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to support students with special educational needs (SEN), and a range of associated social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges and traumas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students with SEN and SEMH challenges, increasing their engagement, attainment, and overall independence.
  • Work with vulnerable students to identify their risks and needs, escalating where necessary.
  • Build confidence and motivation in students, and equip them with tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, empowered, and believe that they can succeed in life.
  • Remain calm and resilient when placed in situations of stress or conflict, and maintain a professional approach to work.
Person Specification
  • Passionate about helping children and young people achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Able to build confidence and motivation in students.
  • Approachable, and able to build robust and effective relationships with students.
  • High levels of empathy, caring, compassionate, and a good listener.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic, with a professional approach to work.
What We Offer

Academics Ltd provides excellent on-site training, support, and CPD to ensure the safeguarding of all students. This role offers a competitive daily rate of £85-£90, and is available on a term-time only basis.

No previous experience is required, but a graduate degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Sport is highly desirable. You must have the right to work in the UK, and will need to apply for an Enhanced DBS and/or overseas police check where necessary.
