The Role:
Key responsibilities include overseeing and managing daily tasks of the processing team, assigning, organising, and prioritising tasks effectively. The candidate will also act as the primary point of contact for resolving complex errors or complaints, assessing team performance according to the Company's performance review process, and providing suggestions to the Head of Payroll for creating and implementing new or updated policies, procedures, and controls to streamline payroll processing. Additionally, the Payroll Supervisor will ensure ongoing adherence to legislative requirements, collaborate with the Head of Payroll to identify opportunities for improving computer operations, system efficiency, and response time, and support projects and contribute to the development, testing, and implementation of system upgrades or enhancements. The successful candidate will also actively balance and reconcile HMRC submissions, demonstrate extensive knowledge of payroll regulations, tax legislation, pension laws, and compliance, and aid internal and external auditors by furnishing required documents, reports, and other payroll-related information, and implement recommended procedural changes. Furthermore, the Payroll Supervisor will assume responsibility for overseeing the entire processing cycle of one or more company payrolls, address day-to-day queries promptly and professionally, and project a positive image both internally and externally. Finally, the candidate will play an active role in the payroll team, working towards continual improvement and enhancement of departmental functions.

The Person:
To be successful in this role, the candidate will require proven experience in payroll processing, a track record of successfully managing a small team, strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate team members to achieve their full potential, and the ability to multi-task, prioritise, and work to deadlines under pressure in a constantly changing environment. A strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail, experience with Excel, a proactive approach with effective planning and organisational skills, a team player with adaptability and problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels are also essential.
