About the Role:


We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Examiner to join our team at Pearson. As a key member of our assessment team, you will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality delivery of our externally assessed units.


As a Lead Examiner, you will oversee the standardization of Moderators and ensure that the standards of our externally assessed units are maintained and consistent with our unit specification and assessment criteria.


Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:



  • Ensuring the timely delivery of your contracted units and providing updates on the mark scheme/guidance before pre-standardization meetings.
  • L leading meetings such as pre-standardization and standardization and participating in others such as appeals against results and post-series reviews.
  • Marking an allocation of live candidates' responses to quality assure as part of a supervisory role, where required.
  • Preparing and collating materials for standardization and assessment.
  • Sampling supervisors/Examiners' initial marking via an accompanied visit and providing feedback on the visit.
  • Monitoring progress of supervisors/Examiners and acting as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process.

Requirements:



  • Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
  • A history of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardization and other standards-related activities.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector, including internal and external requirements.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:



  • A minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area/sector within the last 8 years and/or extensive knowledge and experience in Pearson assessment, quality and processes and national standards within the last 5 years.
  • Relevant CPD evidence in the subject area/sector within the last 12 months.
  • A UK recognized teaching qualification.

Estimated Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum.
