Job Description

Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Orion Group. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of assigned systems and assets, developing and implementing engineering strategies to ensure long-term health, and providing technical leadership to ensure smooth project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an engineering strategy for assigned systems and assets to ensure long-term health and optimal performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage and maintain system files, including documentation and records.
  • Specify periodic maintenance routines and spares holdings to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Produce and manage modification proposals and act as the Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) for plant modifications.
  • Act as a consultant for projects undertaken on assigned systems, providing proactive technical support and ensuring smooth handovers to and from projects.
  • Deputise for Section Head when required.
  • Support delivery within your range of skills, knowledge, experience, and competence, and comply with the site's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments.
  • Work flexibly within the team and support and mentor other System Engineers to optimise the safe delivery of all specified Lifetime Plan activities to the required quality, time, and cost parameters.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in a practising disciplined Engineering role (Mechanical, Electrical, C & I, or Civil) on industrial plant.
  • Significant nuclear and conventional plant operation and/or maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrate working of Risk Assessments.
  • Cranes or lifting equipment experience.
  • Understanding of Waste process, ideally vacuum.
  • Dealing with waste projects knowledge and experience on Vent plants compressors vacuum systems hoists.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum HNC National Qualifications Framework (NQF level 5); preferably a relevant Degree or working towards (NQF level 6).
