Job Description

This is a challenging role for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team at Mercator Digital. As the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll functions, including salary calculations, benefits administration, and compliance with relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect new employee data and process payroll, providing clear communication to employees regarding payment times and payslip access.
  • Maintain accurate records, advising accountants of any changes and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Process new starters/finishers, including collection of P45/new starter forms and setup in payroll systems.
  • Ensure billable staff record their hours on our timesheet portal and assist with any queries or issues.
  • Calculate overtime pay and commission associated with sales staff, sending records to individuals as necessary.
  • Record deductions for electric vehicle schemes, pensions, cycle to work, and other employee benefits.
  • Handle maternity/paternity/sickness pay, adhering to company policies and legislative guidelines.
  • Submit accurate monthly pay records to accountants, including salary changes, deductions, and commission.
  • Address payment issues, ensuring corrections are made in compliance with legislation.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in a busy payroll function.
  • Strong administration, planning, organizing, and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and meet deadlines.
  • High level of customer service orientation, with the ability to deal with people at all levels.
  • Proficient computer skills, including excel spreadsheets and word documents.
  • Experience with Sage or other accounting packages.
  • Knowledge of PAYE rules and auto-enrolment pension regulations.
  • Ability to advise employees on payroll matters, such as PAYE and NIC issues.

Location and Working Hours

This role is based in Crowborough/London/South East, with occasional travel to our office required. You will be expected to work standard business hours, with flexibility to accommodate the needs of the team and business.
