MEP Coordination Engineer Position

Alternative Heat Limited is seeking a highly skilled MEP Coordination Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems on commercial scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and evaluate BIM models for MEP systems to ensure consistency with project design criteria and standards.
- Review MEP drawings to ensure accuracy, detail, and alignment with BIM models and project requirements.
- Implement and oversee quality control procedures for MEP modelling and drawing production.
- Propose innovative design solutions or alternative methods/products to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of MEP systems.
- Identify and record risks or challenges related to MEP installations and suggest pre-emptive measures or solutions.
- Engage with equipment and material suppliers to ensure accurate incorporation of product data and specifications into BIM models.
- Attend BIM coordination meetings to discuss model progress, clashes, and resolutions.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to project timelines and flag potential delays for coordination with project managers.
- Track and manage design changes or variations and ensure prompt reflection in BIM models and drawings.
- Use tools like Autodesk Navisworks to identify and resolve clashes between various MEP systems and other disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with local codes and standards, product installation guidance, and specific project requirements.
- Regularly review and update internal MEP coordination and BIM procedures to align with industry best practices and technological advancements.
- Strong building services background with minimum 5 years experience with MEP installations on commercial scale projects.
- Relevant third-level education in building services, construction, or project management.
- Competent understanding of mechanical systems in medium to large commercial projects.
- Proficient in Autodesk Navisworks for coordination review.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
