Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer Technician to join our team in Lincoln. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for carrying out complex tasks related to wheelset maintenance and repair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out initial inspections of wheelsets to identify potential issues
- Remove axle bearings with precision to prevent damage to the axle or components
- Paint removal on axles requires attention to detail
- Wheel pan removal must be done carefully to avoid damaging components
- Painting activities, including repairs and spray painting, require strong technical skills
- Oil drain and fill on wheelset gearbox and couplings is a critical task
- Initial Bogie inspection reporting is essential for maintaining accurate records
- Wheelset removal demands careful handling to prevent damage to frames or wheelsets
- Frame disassembly and component removal require advanced technical knowledge
- Component repair and cleaning of rolling stock when required are additional responsibilities
Requirements:
- Mechanical engineering experience in a similar environment is essential
- Mechanical qualifications (e.g., NVQ 3) are necessary for this role
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplined team is vital
- Problem-solving skills and good judgment are critical for success in this position
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently when required
- Good decision-making capability and accuracy in recording actions and operations
Estimated Salary: £34,000 - £40,000 per annum
