Undergraduate Quantity Surveying Industrial Placement

We are seeking a talented Undergraduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the Electricity Transmission Customer Connections department for a 12-month industrial placement.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveying student to gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting. As an Undergraduate Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting project validation and cost management activities, including tender activities, audit of Subcontractors works, invoice reconciliation, and contractual claims.

About the Role
  • Support tender activities using benchmark data and eHub cost estimates.
  • Audit of Subcontractors works on site against Valuations/Payment Certificates.
  • Supporting Invoice reconciliation.
  • Validation of Contractor's forecast.
  • Assist in contractual claims, and the Early Warning/Compensation Event process.
Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Support project validation and cost management activities.
  • Contribute to the development of project estimates and valuations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Be in your penultimate year at University, on track to achieve a minimum 2:2 in a Quantity Surveying degree discipline.
  • Commit to a 12-month industrial placement that will begin in June.
  • Eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting.
  • Flexibility to travel within the role and throughout the placement as required.
  • A valid full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle for your time on programme (business insurance will be required).
Location

This role is based in Lackenby, offering flexible hybrid working where possible.

Salary

£25,000 per annum (plus benefits), estimated to rise to around £28,000-£30,000 after one year, considering the location and industry standards.
